Abstract
Well-designed figures communicate complex scientific concepts effectively. Can a graphic be concise and articulate? How do design principles focus a viewer’s attention? Most of us are trained in written and verbal communication, and very few study visual design formally.
This talk distils information design into practical guidelines for creating scientific figures, using examples from students and colleagues to show the process of designing and redesigning a figure for a poster or a publication.
